I am a professional translator with a commitment to maintaining high quality and offering customer service second to none. I pride myself in building strong relationships with my clients and tailoring each project to their specific needs.
I am a native English speaker. I translate from Spanish and Italian to English. I offer proof reading and transcreation services as well as post-editing of machine translation. I have seven years experience proof reading government documents in the Northern Ireland Civil Service.
I have travelled extensively through Latin America and Europe, topping up language skills first developed at an early age in school. During my travels I have had first hand experience of cultural differences and linguistic nuances in countries and regions that speak the same language.
Whilst working within the area of IT project management within the Northern Ireland Civil Service, I completed a Masters in Translation Studies (with distinction) at Queens University Belfast to add to my BA (Hons) in Business Studies from The University of Ulster. Working and studying at the same time allowed me to simultaneously improve my knowledge and practical experience in government, marketing and business in general. My Masters degree provided me with the essential skills and attributes required to be a freelance translator, honing my skill under expert supervision. I have a certificate from Queens University in Translation Technology tools and a high level of efficiency in the use of all major translation software packages.
I am a Qualified Member (MITI – Translator) of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting, the UK’s only independent professional association of practicing translators and interpreters. I am a member of the ProZ.com Certified PRO Network. This is an initiative to provide qualified translators with an opportunity to network and collaborate in an environment consisting entirely of screened professionals.
I specialise in translating documents that compliment my practical skills and personal interests. These include marketing, travel & tourism, sport (football in particular), science and environmental issues.
